The Quality Assurance for Soil Moisture (QA4SM) web service is developed by
TU Wien GEO and AWST GmbH with funding from the Austrian Space Applications Programme by FFG. It is hosted on EODC.
It aims to allow its users to validate soil moisture datasets in a traceable, transparent, reproducible and standardised fashion
and to download the validation results for further use, for example in publications.
In order to use the webservice, users must accept and follow the Terms and Conditions below:
Terms and Conditions
Users of the QA4SM webservice are asked to register before using the service to validate data, view and download results.
Intellectual Property Rights:
The user acknowledges the respective data owner’s full title and ownership of the data, and nothing in these terms and
conditions shall be construed as granting or implying any rights to, or interest in copyrights or intellectual property
rights of the respective data owners.
Acknowledgement and citation:
Whenever results produced by the QA4SM web service are used for publication, the data's and the results' origin
(i.e. the original data, reference data providers and the QA4SM webservice) must be acknowledged and referenced.
A reference both to the QA4SM webservice and to all data providers for the study in question shall be provided.

For questions and remarks concerning the QA4SM web service, users can contact the service provider by email at
support (at) qa4sm.eu.
If necessary, the team will forward questions or comments to the respective data providers or to other recipients who
may be suitable for providing help with the questions received.
The results produced by the QA4SM webservice are provided for free and "as is", i.e. without any warranty
as to their condition, consistency or suitability for a particular purpose. Neither TU Wien GEO nor AWST, EODC or the
individual data providers can be held responsible for any errors or inconsistencies in the results provided by the
QA4SM web service or for a timely delivery of results. Moreover, they have no obligation whatsoever relating to updates
or availailability of the results, data or web service.
The provision of the service and/or delivery of results or data may be suspended or terminated at any time.
References and Acknowledgements
Whenever results generated by the QA4SM service are used in publications, the QA4SM service must be acknowledged and
referenced along with the original data source(s).

was developed by TU Wien GEO and AWST GmbH. The results were generated on [date of processing].
The individual datasets must be referenced using the guidance provided by the data providers. Links to the official websites of the
datasets currently supported by the service are listed in the datasets page.
Email: On registration, users are asked to provide a valid email address where they can receive notifications
concerning account activation, completed validations, maintenance etc. The QA4SM web service providers will not convey
these email addresses to third parties, other than for the delivery of the specified emails or as may be legally required.
If users send questions or comments e.g. about datasets via email, the QA4SM webservice providers may forward these
emails to the appropriate data providers or other recipients unless otherwise indicated in the email.
Other user profile data: On registration, users are asked to provide additional information including given name, family name,
organisation and country. Providing this information is optional and not necessary for creating an account.
Information about individual users will not be conveyed to third parties other than for the provision of the
QA4SM web service (e.g. mentioning a user's full name in emails to them) or as required by law. Aggregated user information,
including the number of users per country and organisation, may be passed on to funding agencies or others to advertise the
service or attract more funding. This is aimed at helping cover the cost of this free service. Users who want to delete some
or all of their user information stored in the QA4SM web service can do so by contacting the provider by email at support (at) qa4sm.eu.
The deletion of required user information will remove access to the service.
Logs: The QA4SM web service writes logs about connections made to it, which include the users' IP addresses.
This information is used to investigate errors, attempts to disrupt the service etc. The logs will not be conveyed
to third parties unless legally required or needed for the prosecution of disruptions of the service or the investigation
of malfunctions. Aggregated information about connections may be passed on together with aggregated user information.
Logged information is deleted at regular intervals.
